NBA playoffs in 2024:

We are already in the second week of the 2024 NBA playoffs first-round series, and we have already witnessed an overwhelming sweep.

Thanks to many outstanding efforts from All-Star guard Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Phoenix Suns in four games. They are now awaiting the outcome of the Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Lakers series. LeBron James and the Lakers are behind Nikola Jokic and the reigning NBA Finals champion Nuggets three games to one in that encounter. While the LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks are tied at two games apiece, the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder of the West are leading their series (3-0) against the Zion Williamson-less New Orleans Pelicans.

The Boston Celtics, the top-seeded team in the East, are leading 2-1 what we've learnt from the first round thus far!!!

Andrews, Kendra: Given that Kevin Durant and company didn't lose to the Timberwolves during the regular season, one can only imagine how dominant the Wolves were against the Suns. The Wolves defeated the Suns by 51 points in the series while Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant were playing. The Wolves had won the first three games of the series by double digits. The 1989 West Finals, the final season before the Timberwolves franchise was founded, marked the last time the Suns were destroyed in a best-of-7 series.

Which Eastern or Western squad has the greatest chance to win??

Andrew Lopez: Boston has the greatest chance, but there are still strong teams in the running. The Lakers have led the first-round series for 139 minutes, as was already mentioned. The Timberwolves and Nuggets battled tight in four of the five games last year, with the Timberwolves winning one, before Denver beat the Suns in six games and swept the Lakers to get to the Finals. Furthermore, anyone Denver would face in the conference finals (if they make it there, too) will be a tough foe after seeing what Oklahoma City did in the opening round.
